Dearest Christ Lutheran family,

If you were in worship yesterday, you heard me say that as your pastor, your health and safety are my greatest priority. I write to you to inform you that in agreement with our Council President and Head Deacon, and guidance from Bishop Roth, we will be suspending all  worship services (both Sunday morning and Wednesday evening Lent) and all in-church building committee meetings and gatherings effective immediately until March 30th.

Please know I do not take this decision lightly, as is also the case for our church leadership.  It has been an agonizing decision for us and for me personally over these past days.

Also know that even though our ministry together in our church building is pausing for a bit, we are still the church! I am planning as I am able to continue to provide worship in some form to you digitally. Please stay tuned as a form of worship service will be either broadcasted live on our CLC Facebook page and/or uploaded to our website (for both Sundays and Wednesdays). We will also continue to email out my sermons via the weekly e-news. Additionally, we will be communicating any needed decisions as committees or council via email or conference calls. The church office will remain open in a limited capacity.

In the meantime, I ask that you continue to pray for and love your neighbor (from a distance). Reach out to your friends and loved ones—especially those who are elderly and infirm. I also ask that you heed warnings and recommendations from local, state, and federal officials and health experts. Your doing so will keep you and your loved ones safe and help prevent spreading disease further.

As has been the case, I expect this to continue to be a fluid situation and we promise to keep you updated as things progress. Please know you can always contact me, Jack Hehn, Steve Mitze, or Bill Witt any time via email, phone, and text.

As I said in my sermon yesterday, when we drink from the well of new life we know we will never thirst. I pray in this unprecedented time you are filled with the life and light of Christ and you feel Christ’s abiding presence.

In Christ’s love,
Pastor Julia
